IT Industry Luminary Shlomo Kramer Joins Board and Invests in LightCyber
Industry Veteran Bets on LightCyber Active Breach Detection as Answer to Growing Data Breach Crisis
LOS ALTOS, Calif. and RAMAT GAN, Israel – June 4, 2015 – LightCyber, a leading provider of Active Breach Detection solutions, today announced that network security business leader and luminary Shlomo Kramer has joined its board of directors. Kramer is best known as the co-founder of Check Point Software, founder and CEO of Imperva, early investor and board member of Palo Alto Networks from 2006 to 2012, and early investor in Trusteer (recently acquired by IBM). Kramer also made an equity investment in LightCyber.
Shlomo’s expertise in driving IT security innovation will be of tremendous value to LightCyber, as the company builds the emerging Active Breach Detection category. LightCyber’s Magna Active Breach Detection platform enables companies and organizations to quickly and accurately detect active data breaches by identifying the operational activities an attacker must perform once inside an unfamiliar network.
“IT security has radically changed since the early years focused primarily on threat prevention. Companies today must expect that a sufficiently motivated targeted attacker will find a way to circumvent these legacy threat prevention systems, and need new tools to detect these intruders once they get a foothold in the network,” said Shlomo Kramer. “LightCyber is uniquely focused on automating the attack detection process and accurately detecting the bad actors before theft or damage can occur. I am excited to contribute towards the company’s impressive growth and success.”
“We are thrilled to have Shlomo join our board of directors and contribute his proven insight, experience and vision to our company’s growth,” said Gonen Fink, chief executive officer, LightCyber. “Shlomo has a track record like none other in security and an acute sense of the imperatives to meet each new demand and challenge faced by the industry.”
The LightCyber Magna platform is a novel Active Breach Detection solution that employs behavioral profiling of user accounts and network devices to detect active attackers that have circumvented legacy threat prevention systems. Instead of alerting on technical artifacts that might or might not be associated with an attack, the LightCyber Magna platform identifies actual operational behaviors that cybercriminals must use to perpetrate their attack. These include reconnaissance activities, lateral movements from machine to machine, external communications with command centers and, ultimately, data exfiltration. The LightCyber Magna platform is the industry’s only solution to integrate both network activity with endpoint state into a single analytical detection domain to increase the accuracy and actionability of breach indicators. Accuracy and actionability help reduce attack dwell time and the associated damage potential – the ultimate goal of security organizations.
LightCyber is a leading provider of Active Breach Detection solutions that accurately detect active cyber attacks that have circumvented traditional threat prevention systems. The LightCyber Magna platform is the first security product to simultaneously profile both network traffic and endpoint state in order to accurately detect compromised user accounts and devices early in the attack lifecycle, and to enable security operators to remediate breaches and stop attacks before real damage is done. Founded in 2011 and led by world-class cyber security experts, the company’s products have been successfully deployed by top-tier customers around the world in the financial, legal, telecom, government, media and technology sectors.
