A Michigan native, Mr. Murphy became a police officer after graduating from college in 1983. In 1988, he joined the FBI as a special agent. He eventually rose to become the Deputy Director of the FBI, a position he held until retiring in 2011. Prior to joining TRSS, Mr. Murphy was a Vice President at MacAndrews and Forbes, Inc.

In his last two FBI positions, Mr. Murphy oversaw the operational and administration aspects of a workforce that was more than 35,000 strong, spread throughout 56 national offices and more than 60 international offices. Mr. Murphy maintains close ties to the law enforcement and intelligence communities and is frequently consulted for his expertise in global cyber, counterterrorism, intelligence, criminal and security issues.
